Definitions!
Undergrowth- A dense growth of shrubs and other plants, esp. under trees in woodland.
Atmospheric Pressure- The pressure exerted by the atmosphere at the earth's surface.
El Nino- Causes a rise in sea temperature, weak easterly winds and the movement of rain clouds away from Australia. Makes weather incredibly dry and quite hot.
Magnitude- The energy released by the earthquake.
Seismograph- a device that is used to accurately record the motion of the ground during an earthquake.
Surge- Move suddenly and powerfully forward or upward.
Condensation- The change of a gas or vapor to a liquid, either by cooling or by being subjected to much pressure. When water vapor cools in the atmosphere, it condenses into tiny drops of water, which form clouds.
Debris- Loose natural material eg. broken pieces of rock, dirt and dry material.
Seismic- Movements in the Earth’s crust that are usually caused by earthquakes, explosions or volcanic eruptions.
Shallow-water Wave- A wave becomes a shallow-water wave when the wavelength is very large compared to the water depth.
